Cold Temps Came Earlier Last Year

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist MARIE ROY IS A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF LINCOLN AND HAS WRITTEN FOR THE ENTERPRISELEADER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS.

Though this cold spell slipped up on us, it wasn’t the earliest on record. Last year, we had sleet, snow and hail on Oct. 6, followed by two days of 30 degrees. The rest of the month had 50 degrees and 60 degrees, until Oct. 27 and 28 when the temp’s low was 25 and 29 degrees. This later spell has lasted longer, though, giving us a fore- taste of winter, which begins one month from now.

The second Tuesday of this month fell on a holiday, so the Remember and Reminisce meeting at the Lincoln library was held Tuesday, Nov. 18. Only eight attended, but it was a fun time, looking through old albums and records, and sharing times and events past with friends, and even shared family events and fun times. The next meeting is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 9.

An 8x10 photo of six elderly men, sitting on a bench in the Lincoln square in 1968, has been placed in the library. Four of them have been identified, but the two center ones remain a mystery. Anyone who lived in the Lincoln area during that time is asked to go by the library and see if they can be identified.

Lincoln Kitchen Band members visited Prairie Grove Center Nov. 18 and with the Prairie Grove members joining in, a fun time was enjoyed as usual.

Springdale Center Seniors visited the Lincoln Senior Center on Tuesday. We enjoyed the band with them and played baseball after lunch. More fun.

Sugar Hill Church members plan their combined Thanksgiving- Christmas dinner for Dec 14, after church. As usual, an afternoon of enjoyable music is planned.

Happy birthday to Josh King, David Bush, Vince Wofford, Bill Bradley, Jim Morris, Tubby Shannon, Joe Bradley, Denise Mounce.

Happy Anniversary to Earl and Betty Adams, and Edwin and Janet Roy. Happy years, all. Truly happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
