Great Giveaway To Help Families

-

FARMINGTON — First Baptist Church on Rheas Mill Road in Farmington will once again have its outreach ministry, the Great Christmas Gift Give-Away to help those who may need help providing Christmas for their families this year.

The Give-Away will be held 9 a. m. to noon, or until everything is gone, on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the church, 589 Rheas Mill Road.

The purpose of the Great Give-Away is for the church to host an indoor yard sale type event where all items are given away for free. Church members and other groups are encouraged to bring items from home that they no longer need and make them available free to those families who need help this year. Please do not bring junk or broken items. If items are clothes, please make sure they are clean.

Donated items can include unused toys, Christmas decorations, clothing, furniture, tools for dads, bicycles, baby items and shoes.

With the downturn in the economy, many people are struggling to make ends meet. Single parents especially are burdened with trying to care for their families. For many, Christmas is just not an option, unless they get help of some kind.

This is the church’s fourth Gift Give-Away in the past five years and usually everything is gone by 11 -11:30 a.m. The church encourages anyone to attend but asks that people who have resale shops or booths not to take the items to sell at their booths. This is an attempt to help those who are down on their luck and need a helping hand to enjoy Christmas.
