Cold Weather Brings Company

The combination Christmas-New Year birthday celebration was held in Johnny and Anna Cheatham’s home on Jan. 2, so all the family could attend. Their regular, preferred dinner of chicken and dumplings was enjoyed. (I wonder which this group would rather have — venison or chicken and dumplings?) After the fun and excitement of opening gifts, all enjoyed a session of home videos, taken when their children were small - such sweet memories, and more made that day.

Kitchen Band music and jokes were going strong Tuesday at the Senior Center, as are all regular activities there: Monday, Gospel Singing, Bible Study; Tuesdays, TOPS meeting, Kitchen band; Wednesday, Jam Session, blood pressure reading, bingo; Thursday, line dancing, afternoon games; Friday, bingo, afternoon games. All this, plus extra activities, such as BB games, dances, trips, etc., and this Friday, Jan. 16, Barney Fife on the piano.

There also is a fantastic salad bar, and catering for special events. Go by and visit, enjoy the good food, or call for times of activities.

Remember the quilt displayed in the Center, to be given to some lucky person Feb. 13 at 10:55 a.m. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

This cold weather brings to mind the celebrations for the month of January, it is oatmeal, bread- making machine, soup, hot tea, coffee, book, and mail-order gardening month. So with one of the catalogs (already arriving in the mail) take a cup of tea or coffee, or soup and enjoy, or take a book and relax.

Our thoughts and concern for those who must face the frosty elements.
