Welcome because of friendship

That was worth much more then gold.

If young folks needed a gathering place

They would to Nancy’s and Jimmy’s go.

Knowing they were always welcome

If the straight line they would toe.

Wednesday nights for prayer meeting Our home was open again. For beloved friends and neighbors

They came, whether clear or rain.

Family reunions, lawn parties, Impromptu ball games too. Millions of steps and so much fun.

On our lawn where no grass grew.

I wonder if our old home yard

Has been nurtured back to health.

While we’ve been nurturing memories

Of which we have such wealth.

I hope there’s children scampering, Maybe a water fight or so, With plenty of happiness and laughter

In the yard where no grass had no chance to grow.

It wasn’t all fun during our “growing up” days of the Great Depression. We worked hard ( those strawberry rows stretched long on hot days), all resulting in lessons for future work days, sacrifice and serving.

Happy birthday to Elmer Williams, Carol Meyer, Seth Latta, Richard Watson, Sam King, Lesley Pinkerton, Wesley Pinkerton, Jack Batson, J. F. Cheatham, Kathy Britt, Derek Cheatham, Mitchell Laycox.

Happy anniversary to Don and Denise Mounce. Happy years, all! Have a SONshine day
