Senior Center Recognizes Volunteers

May was a busy month in the Lincoln Senior Center. Besides the regular activities of Gospel Singing, Bible study, blood pressure checks, bingo and other games and music, the groups enjoyed trips to Gater Golf and bowling in Fayetteville, and B.B.B. games in other centers. They also had their own “Comedy Hour,” special “Games with Dorothy,” Brown Bag Bingo, and Fish Fry, and the second Lincoln scavenger hunt. They ended the month with their Full County Breakfast on May 30. That morning, Miss Tina recognized eight of the volunteers who help keep the Center’s programs going, George and Lorene Schooler, J.C. Albright, Vera Dunnagan, Rosalie Glidewell, Carol Kennedy, Jean and Neal Helm. There are many, many more who help in the same way. Tina also presented a certificate of appreciation to the Sugar Hill Church for their “valuable contributions to the Lincoln area, the Seniors and the activities Center.”

The Kitchen Band members began June with one of their favorite activities, going to Lincoln Headstart. Though the idea is to entertain those little tots, they entertain us as well, with their energetic willingness to take part in the chicken dance, stick horse rides, and riding the little red wagon; and their constant dancing to the music—what energy, what fun! They are so precious, and band members look forward to another invitation.

Some humor —” Uncooked Truth”

A customer, studying the menu, asked the waitress, “How do you prepare your chicken?”

She replied, “We tell them straight up they’re not going to make it.”
