Prairie Grove Hires Assistant Superintendent
PRAIRIE GROVE — Eureka Springs’ school superintendent will move south to take over as the next assistant superintendent for Prairie Grove School District.
Prai-rie Grove School Board unanimously approved David Kellogg as an assis-tant superintendent at a special meeting last week. Kellogg has been with Eureka Springs School District for two years. His wife is a gifted and talented teacher for Springdale School District and the couple lives in Springdale.
Allen Williams, Prairie Grove superintendent of schools, said the district received abut 20 applications and narrowed the field to four candidates for interviews.
“David has a wealth of experience,” Williams said, adding that he worked with Kellogg when both were employed by Springdale School District. “He has a very strong secondary curriculum background in vocational and career development. He’s smart, a hard worker and very personable.”
Williams added, “We thought he was the best fit to work with our staff.”
Kellogg has about 32 years of educational experience and 20 years of experience in administrative positions. Prior to Eureka Springs, he was superintendent for Cossatot School District. He started his career in El Dorado and has been a high school principal with Oak Grove High School in Pulaski County, El Dorado High School and Springdale High School. He also was a consultant with Southern Regional Education Board working with high schools on curriculum issues.
Kellogg is replacing Vol Wood, who has accepted a position as superintendent at Keys School District in Park Hill, Okla.
