2015 Queen Candidates Teacher On Horseback
HORSE-RELATED CONTEST SPARKS SIZEMORE’S ATTENTION
LINCOLN — For Abby Sizemore, everything horse related has always sparked her attention so entering the 2015 Miss Lincoln Riding Club rodeo queen contest seems natural.
When Sizemore was a little girl she started on leadline and got the bug. Now she is a member of the LRC Regulators, which she proudly calls one of the best precision drill teams around. Horses consume a good portion of her free time. Sizemore has been riding since she was 5-yearsold. Three years ago she acquired the best horse she has ever owned. His name is Hickey, she calls him her gentle giant. He’s big and red and was just a roping horse before Sizemore began training him to run barrels and is also endeavoring to train him well on western pleasure. Sizemore has run barrels at jackpots and has also participated in the Cowboy Winter Rodeo Association. She used to attend the Oak Gove Riding Club where she received an award in Speed. She is currently a member of the LRC Regulators.
Sizemore is the 19-year-old daughter of Laura and Keith Sizemore, of Springdale. She is a freshman at Northwest Arkansas Community College with a major in Early Childhood Education. After she gets her degree Sizemore plans to be a Kindergarten teacher. In addition to rodeo and horse related events, Sizemore enjoys racing and riding dirtbikes. While in high school, Sizemore won the Star Greenhand Award in her FFA Chapter. She was seventh at the state horse judging contest and was also president of the Student Council.
Sizemore says would like to be the LRC rodeo queen because she enjoys being an example for young children, something she will continue to work at should she win. Sizemore’s hopes and dreams are rolled up right now in a wish to represent the association, acknowledging Lincoln Riding Club has changed her life through what she describes as “some amazingly supportive group of women.”
