Couple Celebrates 65th Wedding Anniversary

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

Members of the Sugar Hill Church enjoyed hosting another surprise celebration when they gathered after church recently, to honor Millard and Joann Matthews for their 65th anniversary, enjoying the fellowship along with cake and ice cream. Also attending were the couple’s daughters, Ruth Ann and her husband Daryl Youngman, from Lawton, Okla., and Pravis and her husband Mitchell Snow from Siloam Springs, Ark. Unable to attend were a daughter, Grapha and her husband Wilford Tate of Chickasha, Okla. Mr. Tate was still recuperating from major surgery. Everyone wishes the Matthews many more happy years together.

Did you notice the unusual this year?

(Not one bale of hay in the field in May)

They say there is a first time for everything, and I think that the month of May this year is the first time since hay- baling started many years ago, that the fields were not covered with hay.

Finally, a few days of sunshine dried out some fields enough that baling could be done the first week in June. Even then some were still so soggy that the machines left deep ruts.. rough going for raking and baling.

…. And I finally got my backyard mowed, without resorting to using a brush hog!

Here is a good quickie for a sweet snack.

Cake Cookies

Combine all ingredients. Drop by teaspoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

Can put two cookies together with ready made frosting between.
