Rain Causes Change In Wedding Venue

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

The 4th of July was better than expected, weather wise, so the whole countryside lit up for two nights.

It was the usual yearly time for reunions, and for me, the home of Millard and Joanne Matthews, was filled with their visiting children. Sunday, the Matthews and two daughters and their husbands, Grandpa and Wilford Tate, and Ruth Ann and Daryl Youngman, attended the Sugar Hill Church. Mr. Youngman also played his guitar for the music, and he led the song service, in the absence of our pianist Chris Rogers. Our thoughts and prayers are for Chris, and she is wished many loving “get wells.” The same goes for Bonnie Melton, who has missed several Sundays.

“The best laid plans”- Mike Knuckles and Penny Brown had planned their wedding to be at the home of her parents, Larry and Nelda Hacker, on their beautiful lawn; but the weather changed their plans, and they were married in the Sugar Hill Church instead. The 75 or so guests followed them to the home for the reception. Hopefully, a full report, with pictures, of the wedding will come later.

Johnny and Anna Cheatham had their usual 4th of July celebration on Friday, because their grandson Garret and friend Britney had to work on Saturday. Britney had made a red, white and blue cake to enjoy. Food, fun and fireworks were all enjoyed.

Just another reminder — the upcoming Lincoln Alumni reunion is to be July 25, and will be here before we know it. Tell everyone you know who might be interested, and lets keep the reunion going.

Happy Birthday to: Jack Chenowith, Mason Roy, Helen Bailey, Clark Bailey, Danny Butler, Joyce Snodgrass, and Amy Love.

Happy years all!
