Snodgrass Celebrates 80th Birthday

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

The fun of a surprise and visiting with the gathering friends was just part of the enjoyment at Lincoln Senior Center Saturday, when the children and grandchildren of Joyce Snodgrass hosted a surprise 80th birthday party for her. Getting re-acquainted with some of her grandchildren ( they have grown up) was part of the enjoyment, as well as watching her great-grandchildren’s activities. It was impossible to count how many attended — full house! We wish this special lady many more such happy occasions.

It seems just a few days ago that we were wondering, ” Where did June go?” and now, past July, suddenly here is August, a month with no special holidays, only perhaps special days for those with birthdays or anniversaries to celebrate.

But, August is back to school month, get ready for kindergarten, immunization awareness ( are children celebrating?), family fun, goat cheese, catfish, cataract awareness, muscular atrophy, inventors, admit you’re happy, and family meal month.

Due to a misunderstanding, the date of the upcoming, “remember Lincoln” at the library, was wrong in last week’s column.

The true date is next Tuesday, Aug. 4. Hopefully there will be enough interest shown, to have the meetings each Tuesday evening through August. These meetings are interesting and informative. If you have a story of something historical concerning Lincoln, please share it. “For the Time Being” A friend asked her pastor, “Doesn’t it bother you when people keep looking at their watches during the service?”

“That doesn’t bother me,” he replied, “What really shakes me up is when they put their watches to their ears to see if they’re still running.”

Happy birthday to Wilma Shannon, Megan Luttrell, Max Bradley, Bonnie Watson, Kerry Bradley, Keith Myers, Shawn McClellan, Elizabeth Myers. Happy years, all! Have a SONshine day
