State Park Hosts Haunted Night

-

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park would like to invite everyone to the Haunted Night on the Battlefield. The event will be held at the Park Amphitheatre from 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24. Free kettle corn and hot cider will be served.

This year’s event will include a self- guided tour of paranormal information booths and a historical scene around the Borden House area. Visitors will find stations that focus on different aspects of the history of the battle, some folklore and findings we’ve uncovered during our research, as well as local paranormal investigators’ booths.

You may ask what paranormal investigation is. It is investigating a location which is thought to be haunted. With scientific equipment, they attempt to catch evidence of unique activity. You can still take a walk around the park walking trail… if you dare.

A formal presentation of the battle by park staff will be at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Parking will be available at the east entrance of Battlefield Park at the Borden House parking lot. Admission is $2, adults, and $1 for children 3-12. Fee collected at the Park Amphitheatre entrance at the top of the Amphitheatre sidewalk along the driving trail road. All proceeds go to the park to help with future park projects. All events are subject to changes due to weather.

Hindman Hall Museum & Visitor Center is open and free of charge from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. The Visitor Center includes the museum, interactive exhibits, and videos, along with the park gift shop, and restrooms. Park grounds, picnic area, and restrooms are open daily at 8 a.m. until dark.

If anyone would like to volunteer, please let Prairie Grove Battlefield Park know. Email: Holly.houser@arkansas.gov. The Battlefield State Park would like volunteers to stay as long as possible that night to help with setup, during the event, and take down and cleanup. Set-up starts at 4 p.m.; the events will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m.; cleanup starts at 9:35. If you have a specific position you would like to work, staff will try to accommodate your request.
