Myers family enjoys reunion despite chilly weather

Saturday was the 24th Myers family reunion at Charlie and Carol Pitts home in Siloam Springs. Only around 43 or 44 were present, not as many as usual. Two families had illness, some on trips, some working, and some at camp. Out of state attendees were Felicia Ramirez and Sophia from Okmulgee, and friends Mari Hernandez and son Edgar, and Paola Hernandez and son Sergio, from Okmulgee and Little Kansas.

The weather was a little cool, but everyone enjoyed the day, both indoors and outside. There was some discussion on having the reunion earlier in the year, but you can’t out-guess the weather. After all, while we enjoy the cooler weather, the southern part of our state was having a record-setting heat wave! In mid October!

By the time we read this October will be almost over and next month, November, is family stories month, adoption, family caregivers, hospice, alzheimers, diabetes, lung cancer, healthy skin, sleep comfort, flu awareness, vegan, butter lovers, Georgia pecan, American Indian, and history month.

Also in November is Elec- tion Day, Nov. 3; Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11; and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Don’t forget Sunday, Nov. 1, when Daylight Saving time ends. In going through papers, I found a letter written Sept. 30, 1945. It stated “We set our clocks back this morning.” Now, a month later we set ours back.

A little humor, After find- ing a mouse in her kitchen, a lady told her friend, “I’ll never again eat anything I pick up off the floor.”
