Cities Seek Employee Applicants

- By Lynn Kutter ENTERPRISE-LEADER

The cities of Farmington and Prairie Grove have positions to fill for 2016.

Farmington is accepting applications for new positions in the fire and police departments. Farmington City Council approved a new position for each department. Applications are due Jan. 22.

Prairie Grove is seeking candidates for aquatic park manager for the summer.

Fire Chief Mark Cunning- ham said Farmington would like to hire a person who is already certified as a firefighter. Basic qualifications include someone who is 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and high school education. The department already has received several applications.

Qualifications to apply for a police officer’s position are someone who is 21 years of age, no felonies and a high school education. Chief Brian Hubbard said a goal is not to necessarily hire someone who is already certified but that would be a plus.

“We want someone who fits what we are looking for,” Hubbard said.

The city of Prairie Grove has received few applications for its acquatic park manager, said Larry Oelrich, director of administrative services and public works. He would like to hire someone by the end of January. The city is looking for a candidate with some management experience, preferably experience with pool operations and manag- ing lifeguards.

The job is considered seasonal but is full- time hours from late May to the middle of August. Planning for the summer begins in late February. Oelrich said he would like to hire someone who will be able to work long-term, not find a person who is only available this summer.

For information on these positions, contact the Farmington police, 267- 3411; Farmington fire, 267-3888; or Prairie Grove City Hall, 846-3038.
