Farmington, Prairie Grove Plan Drug Take Back Efforts

- STAFF REPORT

Farmington and Prairie Grove police departments will participate in the Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative this month to help residents get rid of expired prescription and over-thecounter drugs.

Farmington City Hall will be open 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday, April 30, for people to bring in old drugs.

In Prairie Grove, police will accept expired drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, in the Harp’s parking lot.

Since Arkansas initiated a take back program, the state has received more than 81 tons of unneeded medication, estimated at 226 million pills, according to a news release about the program.

Pills that are collected will not be abused, accidentally ingested, be used in a crime, cause an overdose, cause a traffic accident or pollute Arkansas waterways.

The following products can be dropped off that day: prescriptions, prescription patches, prescription medi- cations, prescription ointments, over- the- counter medications, vitamins, samples and medications for pets.

Medications also can be dropped off at other times in Farmington and Prairie Grove.

Both police departments have return boxes. Farmington’s box is available during City Hall business hours 8-5 Monday-Friday.

Prairie Grove’s box is available anytime in the police department’s entry way.
