Lincoln Library Has Lots To Offer Patrons

-

Here at the Lincoln Library we still have a plethora of exciting events coming up. Every Wednesday everyone is invited to join in on the summertime reading that takes place at 10 a.m. This past Wednesday we had Dennis, a master naturist, here to show us what unique treasures we can find in our local parks and even right in our own backyards. The children got to hold so many items and everyone was happy to play the games that Dennis had set up.

Afterwards, and even before, the children were invited to get a free coloring book, stickers, varying small toys, and pencils.

If you didn’t stop by the last Wednesday of June then you surely missed out on an opportunity to see a growing dance company called Afrique Aya. We got to learn dances and everyone seemed so thrilled to get up and move, even the adults joined in.

This coming summertime reading will be on Friday from 4:30 until 6:30, we have the Apple Seeds Teaching Farm Workshop, please stop in and register your child as we only have space for twenty children.

This workshop consists of going out to the garden to pick your own vegetables, learning how to make a deli- cious dish, and then getting to enjoy everyone else’s dish as well!

One of our more promising and heritage- rich happenings is History Month. We have all of August to sift through old newspapers and yearbooks, genealogy computers and non- fiction books, and a glorious amount of reference books to find out just where you came from or who your neighbor might be related to. Ms. Amber is very excited to be able to share her love for history and her knowledge for fact finding, as well as her artistic aptitude at presenting all of the old photos and artwork. It really is a joy to see just how far we have come.

We do have many new books, CD books, and movies so stop in and check out what you can watch tonight or read over the weekend. As always there is no charge for checking out any of our materials, this includes our fishing poles. Yes!

We have fishing poles for the public to check out and enjoy a day (or 14) fishing in solitude or teaching someone else how to fish and it’s the perfect time of year. Many of our patrons might not know that we can order just about anything for you to read, watch , or listen to. We have the ability to request your item and it come from the other side of the state or even from another state, so just because you do not see it on the shelf does not mean we cannot get it for you.

As a side note, if you have any outstanding books please bring them in. Sometimes we all go through a rough time in life like sickness, or a hospital stay, we understand and will work with everyone and possibly even waive the late fees. If you do have late fees we work with you on that also, even if you only pay fifty cents a visit it shows us good faith and you can keep checking out materials.

Please come in for a visit and let us help you find a new book or movie.
