Some Get Rain, Some Get Wind

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

The wind-rainstorm the past weekend was more widely spread than the rain has been. Reports from Siloam Springs were that they received the same, only less rain. One day last week, when we had rain all day, they reported they “had not had a drop.” We received around two inches in 45 minutes, and damage to trees. I lost one of the Bradford pears, and again I’m so thankful for family. Johnny and Dean and his sons Derek and Hudson, hauled off several loads with the flat bed truck and tractor front-end loader, to the already huge brush piles. Derek and I decided we’re going to have a big wiener roast some day.

Two big trees were blown over in the Sugar Hill Church yard, breaking the line to the Church yard light, and snapping the pole in two.

Several interested alumni members met Tuesday evening, and encouraged by this year’s attendance at the reunion, made plans for next year’s event. It was decided to have the reunion every year; the date for next year was set tentatively for July 16 in the high school building. Several revisions and additions to the next program were discussed. The next planning date is set for January 31 at 6 p.m. All who are interested are urged to attend.

Some humor — An elderly man bought a hearing aid. When he visited the doctor for a check-up, the doctor asked him what his family thought of it.

He replied, “I haven’t told them I have one. I just sit around as if I can’t hear them. I have changed my will three times.”
