Bradley’s Donuts, 13-Year Tradition

- By Lynn Kutter

FARMINGTON — Bradley’s Donuts in Farmington is a family- owned, family- run business that has been serving regular customers for more than 13 years.

On a normal weekend, 200 to 300 customers will go through the drivethrough or come into the restaurant for breakfast, whether it is donuts or biscuits prepared from scratch or fresh eggs and sausage rolls.

Angila Bradley and her husband, Brandon, of Prairie Grove opened the shop in March 2003 after Angila decided she wanted to try something new. She was working in a tractor center and was ready for a change, she said.

Though she had no experience cooking donuts, Angila Bradley said she decided to give the new business a try. She learned from Doug Watson, who owned a donut business in Prairie Grove at the time, “and in about a month I was doing it,” she said.

Bradley’s Donuts is located at 56 Yukon Way, Suite 6. Hours are Tuesday-Sunday, 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. Closed on Mondays.

The donuts and hot food are handmade every day. Angila arrives at work at 10 p.m. or midnight, depending on the orders for the next day. Another worker may come in around 2 a.m. or 3 a. m. to start making food from scratch.

Everyone who works at Bradley’s is family related or a family friend. Angila said she prefers family members because she trusts them and they realize the store represents them also. Everyone takes pride in the products they sell, she added.

“I definitely couldn’t have done it without them,” Angila said. Her daughter, Bayli Standifer, started working at the shop when she was 8 years old. One of the youngest workers now is Korbin Dobbs. He said he likes helping with the sausage rolls and at the window best. Korbin’s favorite food item is a cheese sausage roll.

The shop’s best seller in the donut line is the apple fritter. Cake donuts, blueberry and old- fashioned donuts also are popular.

The hot food l i ne includes popular items, such as biscuits and gravy, and cheese sausage rolls or jalapeno and cheese sausage rolls.

Angila said the customers have motivated her to stay with the donut shop for 13 years.

“I enjoy what I do and I like greeting the people,” she said, adding she’s seen many of her customers grow up over the years. She bragged on their teenage customers, noting the students come in using polite, respectful manners.

Darryl and Crystal Sizemore of Summers are regular customers at Bradley’s Donuts and Crystal said she comes because of the fresh, homemade food. She likes sausage rolls and her husband prefers biscuits and gravy.

The store is looking forward to the start of school and more business. Their busiest times are during the school year and especially on Fridays. July is their slowest month.
