Prairie Grove Native Seeks Little Rock City Director Seat

LITTLE ROCK — Jeff Yates, 50, the eldest son of Howard and Billie Yates, and a 1984 graduate of Prairie Grove High, is seeking the Ward 4 seat in the Little Rock City Director’s race.

Yates is in a three-way race with Capi Peck, a local restaurant owner and caterer, and Roy Brooks, former Little Rock Superinten­dent of schools. The race will be decided in the Nov. 8 General Election.

Yates is a businessma­n, real estate developer and longtime public service volunteer in the Little Rock/Pulaski County area. He has been a member of the Little Rock Board of Adjustment, chairman of the Little Rock P lann ing Commission and chairman of the Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas among other appointed offices.

He has also been treasurer of the Pleasant Valley Property Owners Associatio­n; President of the Woodland Hills/Aspen Highlands POA; and a committeem­ember on the Birchwood/Walnut Valley Neighborho­od Planning Committee.

Yates is a member of the Board of Directors of the Little Rock Realtors Associatio­n.

He and his two brothers John Richard and Gregory all grew up in Prairie Grove. Their late father Howard, was a supervisor in a manufactur­ing plant in the area.

Yates’ mother, Billie Yates, who now lives in Farmington, was a long-time counselor in the Prairie Grove School District.

Yates has a finance degree from the University of Arkansas. He is married and has a daughter, Evelyn, who is eight years old.
