Life Ministries Receives Grant
PRAIRIE GROVE — Life Ministries will use a $975 donation to help give out Thanksgiving baskets to its clients this year.
The donation comes from Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance but was made possible through the volunteer efforts of State Rep. Charlene Fite of Van Buren.
The Alliance sponsors a “Serving Up Solutions” fundraiser event each year and legislators who serve at the dinner are awarded grant dollars to give out to agencies in their communities.
Fite volunteered as a server and chose to give her grant to Life Ministries.
“This is a very appropriate time to receive the grant,” said Dave Robins, a member of Life Ministries Board of Directors. “We give out Thanksgiving baskets in addition to what we usually give and this will help with that.”
Clients who apply and are approved for food during the week before Thanksgiving also will receive a turkey or ham and the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.
Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is a non- profit collaborative network of more than 400 hunger relief organizations in Arkansas.
“The dedicated work of Life Ministries to relieve hunger in their community makes them a fitting recipient of these grant dollars,” said Kathy Webb, Alliance executive director. “The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance thanks Representative Fite for her dedication to alleviating hunger in her district and throughout the state.”
