Jerry Clevenger
Jerry Lee Clevenger “Papaw,” 66, of Elkins, Ark., passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. He was born Aug. 23, 1950, in Prairie Grove, Ark., to Clifford and Mary Goo ding Clevenger.
He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and served as a Radio Operator in the 101st Airborne. On Dec. 11, 1971, he married the love of his life, Jeannine Blakemore. He was a Master Plumber for 35 years until he retired in 2011. He lived for spending time with family and attending all his grandchildren’s activities.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford “Tootsie” Clevenger.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jeannine Clevenger of Elkins; mother, Mary Gooding Clevenger of Fayetteville, Ark.; two siblings, Michael Clevenger and wife, Debbie, of Farmington, Ark. and Jeannie Silvis and husband, Jerry, of Fayetteville; three children, Amy Evans and husband, Keith of Elkins, Kyle Clevenger of Oklahoma City, Okla., Christie Dirkach of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Kutko Clevenger of Elkins; nine grandchildren, Ethan Evans and fiancée, Samantha Charles, Layne Evans and Ben Evans of Fayetteville, Dalton Clevenger, Kyleigh Clevenger and Brooklynn Clevenger of Elkins and Drew Dirkach, Gracie Dirkach and Jillian Dirkach of Fayetteville; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service was held Dec. 8, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Elkins with Pastor Rex Griffin officiating. He was laid to rest at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
