James Kenneth Rose, 80, of Fayettevil­le, Ark., passed away peace fully at Willard Walker Hospice Home on Dec. 6, 2016. He was born on Nov. 2, 1936, in Aurora, Ark., to the late C.P. and Mae Rose.

From the age of 6 years old, he grew up on his family’s farm and raised cattle for many decades. In addition to farming, he was self- employed as an electrical contractor in Northwest Arkansas. He was also an avid gardener, lover of nature, wildlife and animals, big and small. He was a caring husband, father and grandfathe­r, who was deeply loved by his family. We will miss his incredible sense of humor which kept us laughing even during the difficult times! He was a graduate of FHS, Class of 1954 and a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U. S. Marine Corps.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Preston Rose; and son, James Rick Rose.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally Rose; daughter, Kathy Mastalerz and son- in- law, Stephen of Fayettevil­le; grandsons, Justin Parker ( Valerie) of Alameda, Calif., and Logan Rose of Prairie Grove, Ark.; granddaugh­ter, Hayley Ellis (Mike) of Fayettevil­le; one great- grandson, Jordan Parker of Alameda, Calif.; sisters, Reba Gail Caine of Mobile, Ala., and Wanda Combs of Fayettevil­le; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service to be officiated by Pastor Ray Baggett, to be announced at a later date under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.
