Pea Ridge Holds Off Lincoln

LINCOLN — The visiting Pea Ridge Junior High Blackhawks defeated Lincoln’s Junior High Wolves, 34-28, in an offensive shootout Sept. 29 at Lincoln’s Wolfpack Stadium.

Lincoln quarterbac­k Tyler Brewer completed 6 of 11 passes for 139 yards with a touchdown and one intercepti­on while backup Noe Avellaneda was 2 of 2 for 42 yards and a touchdown. Avellaneda was the junior Wolves’ top runner with 62 yards on 12 carries for an average of 5.2-yards- perrush with 2 touchdowns. Abraham Calvillo ran the ball 6 times for 19 yards and Eli Rich had a single carry on a jet sweep for 15 yards. Lincoln generated 278 yards of total offense and the junior Wolves’ produced 4 plays of better than 20 yards.

Lincoln Eighth- grader Daytin Davis was the lead- ing receiver with 3 receptions for 58 yards, averaging 19.3-yards-per-catch with one touchdown. Calvillo caught 2 passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Avellaneda had once catch for 52 yards. Blake Arnold had one catch for 23 yards and Rich caught one pass for 6 yards.

For Pea Ridge, David Snarr had a big intercepti­on on defense according to junior Blackhawks’ coach Cody Alexander. Gavin Warden made some crucial stops in key moments. Tate Busey had two rushing touchdowns. Luis Reyes had two rushing touchdowns, one of which was a 60-yard run. Samuel Beard had a touchdown and 2-point conversion and Tristan Hall caught a 2-point conversion. Lance Nunley made a key stop on a 2-point conversion late in the game which kept the Pea Ridge lead at 8.
