Beautiful Weather, Full Church

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

Sunday was a beautiful day, so there was a full-house attendance at Sugar Hill Church for the morning service and the Easter dinner at noon. This was the usual Arkansas potluck, even with the huge crowd there were lots of left overs and we thought of those who are so needy.

That afternoon was the so enjoyable music, while the young ones hunted Easter eggs. Several of the eggs were numbered, each of them holding an item which related to Christ’s Resurrection. For example, one egg was empty, and when it was opened, several of the children said, “The empty Tomb.” Hopefully, they will all be back Sunday for more Bible lessons.

Only three attended the recipe exchange in the library Monday, but they enjoyed exchanging and discussing different recipes. They also visited, catching up on each others’ recent activities. The next meeting is planned for Monday, May 8. We’ll remind all again. Come and enjoy the fellowship and share your favorite and different recipes. I came away with recipes “Cowboy Cookies” and “Shoney’s Strawberry Pie, both rich but different.

Speaking of recipes. The Senior Center is planning to print a cookbook to sell during the Apple Festival, so be gathering your recipes; but for now, they are busy getting through the Easter season, and other celebrations and trips.

One big fundraiser is planned for May 6, their usual garage sale, a good time to clean out the closets and garage, and donate anything they can sell. Again, we’ll remind you.

Happy birthday to Wilma Myers, Caleb Lloyd, Jackie Griffin, Joy Thomas, Kenny Bailey, Dorothy Jordan, Jo Powell, Jeremy Pitts, Mike Pinkerton, Verla Barker, Ed Bailey, Jerrod Bradley, Patti Strickler, Mark Latta, Shadoe Vanatta.

Happy anniversary to Jerry and Judy Bradley, Russell and Rainy Laycox, John and Lillian Griscom. Happy years, all! Remember recycling next Monday.
