Library Busy With Art Show, Ready For Summer

If you didn’t get to come by and experience “The After School Art Show,” you really missed out on seeing some of the most wonderful art from our children here at Lincoln! Kathy Snodgrass showed her art students’ work, K-7th grade, the past two weeks here at the library. We have so enjoyed the colors and shapes of the art work and pencil drawings from these talented students. We put these works of art all over the library, hanging in the windows, taped by the steps, on the book shelves and up by the water fountain.

We sure are going to miss seeing these amazing pieces when they have to come down and go back to their student-owners! Thank you so much Mrs. Kathy and students for brightening our day for the past two weeks!

“Build A Better World” is the new theme for our upcoming Summer Reading program with Ms. Sherry Rodgers. This free program is full of fun as Ms. Sherry has activities, crafts, songs and special speakers to educate and entertain your children each week. She is here on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. The summer program will begin the week of June 19 and run through July 27.

Speaking of “new themes,” at the Arkansas Apple Festival committee meeting last Thursday it was decided that, “Arkansas Apple Festival - The Tradition Continues” will be our theme this year. So if you have a float you want in the parade, keep those words in mind.

It’s a little bit rainy this spring, so I know cleaning out your closet has been slow, but I want you to know that we still are taking donations here at the library. We are weeding out some of our older and outdated materials, and some that no one has checked out in many years. We sell these for 10 cents.

But here is something the ladies and I want you to remember. When you are going to donate books, VHS tapes or DVDs, please keep in mind the age and condition of these items. If they are in bad shape, just throw them away because that is what I will have to do. We no longer have the space to keep everything that comes in.
