Youngsters Entertain Audience
Seventeen talented contestants performed before a standing-roomonly crowd at the American Legion Hall on Saturday, Oct. 7, for the Arkansas Apple Festival Youth Talent Contest.
Coby Don Lynn Turney from Lincoln won the 13-17 age division as a vocalist, and accompanied himself on the electronic piano. His rendition of “You are the Only One” was his performance song. He received $100 and a trophy.
Carley Grace Adams of Farmington won first place in the 8-12 age division with her vocal performance of “Heartbeat.” She won $100 and a trophy.
First runners-up were Deanna Lannutti of Farmington, of the 8-12 group, and Emily Lannutti, Deanna’s sister took the first runner-up place for the 13-17 year olds. This was the first time members from the same family placed in the two divisions of this contest. Both received $75.
Talented young people from several communities participated. In the 13-17 group Serentity Northcott of Elkins sang; Kaitlyn Hutchinson of Springdale presented a clogger dance routine; Ashton McCartney of Clarksville gave a vocal performance; Val Raider Diaz of Lincoln sang and played guitar; Hailey Campbell of Farmington vocalized; and Lane Bunnell of Prairie Grove sang and provided his accompaniment on guitar and harmonica.
Tesa Pack of Lincoln opened the 8-12 group with a vocal; Tarun and Varun Venkataraman from Bentonville sang “Bare Necessities”/”Warm as the Autumn Light”; a dance/vocal performance of “Heartbreaker” was given by Izzy and Eisley Kapity of Lincoln and Hannah and Lauren Remington of Cane Hill; Kinlie Reynolds-McCartney of Clarksville sang and played the guitar; Natalie Athey of Springdale sang and played the guitar; and Jadyn Johnson of Lincoln also sang.
All contestants were well appreciated by the audience.
