Saints Halt Lincoln’s Streak

VARSITY TEAM MUST WIN GAME AT HOME FRIDAY

- Staff Report

SPRINGDALE —A two-game winning streak came to a halt for Lincoln Friday during a lopsided loss to Shiloh Christian (55-6).

Lincoln quarterback Caleb Lloyd completed 8 of 21 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions against the Saints’ defense.

The Saints (6-2, 4-1 4A-1) front seven pressured Lloyd all night, and twice intercepted hurried throws. Shiloh safety Micah Button ran an interception 40 yards back for a score in the first quarter after he jumped a short route. Caleb Carr made the other pick in the second quarter to stop a Wolf drive. Shiloh Christian linebacker Preston Hall sacked Lloyd twice on third down also in the quarter. To Lloyd’s credit he limited the lost yardage, only losing 9 yards on both sacks combined.

Lincoln scored on Cam Brown’s 28-yard touchdown reception from Lloyd with 51 seconds to go in the half. Brown had two catches for 44 yards. Lyndon Miller had one reception for 16 and Jacob Anderson had one for 13 yards. Lincoln receiver Braden Umberson caught 4 passes for 47 yards, and added 11 rushes for 42 yards. Abraham Calvillo rushed 10 times for 37 yards. Lincoln had 221 yards of total offense, gaining more than a 100 yards in the first half.

Shiloh Christian’s Jaret Russ ran the ball 11 times for 215 yards and 3 touchdowns and added a catch for 13 yards on the night.

The loss dropped Lincoln to 3-5, 2-3 with a must-win game coming up Friday at home against Gentry, that will likely decide the final playoff berth in the 4A-1.
