Robert Eugene Carnahan
Robert Eugene “Gene” Carnahan, 98, of Tulsa, Okla., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, in Tulsa. He was born Feb. 9, 1919, in Viney Grove, Ark., the son of Samuel LeFevre, and
Mary Frances (Cook) Carnahan.
He graduated from Prairie Grove High School and attended business college in Tulsa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. He was employed as an optician for many years in Tulsa, and retired as co-owner of Kings Opticians. During his lifetime he enjoyed rock hounding, being a Boy Scout leader, tending his rose garden, creating stained glass artwork, fishing, and above all spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Clorine Armstrong Carnahan; his parents; five brothers; and six sisters.
He is survived by his son, Phillip and wife, Marva Carnahan of Tulsa; daughter, Janette (Carnahan) Jordan and husband Patrick of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Melissa (Carnahan) Dickey, Erin (Carnahan ) Muniz, Evan Carnahan, and Emily Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Trey Dickey and wife Meghan, Reid Dickey, and Caleb Muniz; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Viney Grove United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017.
Luginbuel Funeral Home of Prairie Grove is in charge of arrangements.
