Wil­liam Alton “Buck” Bowen, 85, of Farm­ing­ton, Ark., passed away on

June 2, 2018.

He was born in Kingston,

Ark., on

Feb. 23, 1933, to Mill­age Hous­ton and

Velma Marie (Ox­ford) Bowen. He had one job for his en­tire life, start­ing at Swan­son and stay­ing with them through their tran­si­tion to Camp­bell’s Soup. He and his wife Nel­lie have been mem­bers of the Farm­ing­ton Church of Christ since about 1955. He was a long­time mem­ber of the Kings River Rid­ing Club. In 2002 he was awarded the Honorary Ad­vi­sor Award from the Farm­ing­ton FFA for help­ing stu­dents with their projects. He vol­un­teered a lot of his time at the Farm­ing­ton softball fields help­ing to keep up the fields and help­ing the teams any way that he could. He drove a church bus for many years, haul­ing kids to church ser­vices and VBS. He loved to hunt and fish, and he loved camp­ing with his fam­ily. He was a lov­ing hus­band to Nel­lie for 63 years.

He was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents; his daugh­ter, Brenda Gale Bowen; brothers, Omer Bowen and Paul Eu­gene Bowen; and his sis­ters, Co­lene Tate and Linda Fitzner.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife Nel­lie of Farm­ing­ton; his two daugh­ters, Alta Davis and her hus­band Greg of Farm­ing­ton and Martha Reed of Prairie Grove, Ark.; grand­chil­dren, Brandy Carte and hus­band Ricky of Prairie Grove, Cody Meadors and his wife Carol of Selig­man, Mo., Ash­ley Thomas and hus­band An­drew of Farm­ing­ton, Mae­gan Shreve and hus­band Bobby of Farm­ing­ton, Jessie Parker and hus­band Bryce of Farm­ing­ton, Hali Meadors and her fi­ancé Cody Tem­ple­ton of Lin­coln, Ark., Shane Davis of Farm­ing­ton; 11 great-grand­chil­dren; brothers, Leonard Bowen and Jimmy Dale Bowen; sis­ters, Juanita Madewell, Ina Ross, and Wanda Smith; and many other friends and loved ones.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 9 a.m. Wed­nes­day, June 6, at Farm­ing­ton Church of Christ. Grave­side ser­vice will be at Kingston Ceme­tery in Kingston at 11:30 a.m.
