Floyd “Head Man” Calvin Cantrell, died peacefully at his home in West Fork, Ark., on June 21, 2018.

He was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Bugscuffle, Ark. The nickname ‘Head Man,’ which Floyd was known by for some 70 years, was given to him by Jim Williams when Floyd was a boy of about nine or 10 when he spent many of his free hours helping out doing odd jobs around Carter’s Grocery Store in West Fork.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. C. Cantrell; mother, Nellie Cantrell; and daughter, Connie Cantrell.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene Cantrell; his son, Jay Cantrell and wife Kelly; his daughter, Kim Davis and husband Rich; seven grandchild­ren, Wacey Murphy, Ethan Murphy and wife Whitney, Clayton Cantrell, Baylea Cantrell, James O’Connor, and Jordan O’Connor; three great-grandchild­ren, Skylar Murphy, C.J. Murphy and Parker Cade; and his sister, Joyce Williams.

He was buried at Bugscuffle Cemetery under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, and to honor his wishes, no services were held. The family deeply appreciate­s the excellent care he received from the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at The Walker Heart Institute and Washington Regional Hospice.
