Ladies Group Samples Recipes

- MARIE ROY WCN Columnist

Seven ladies met in the library Monday for the monthly recipe exchange. Though few recipes were shared, several finished recipes in the form of cake, candy and cookie were sampled. Also, a “giant edition” of Kitchen Counter Cures was passed around, too much information for a quick review, but enough samples for thought, and good information, some bordering on advice.

The Lincoln Center is a busy place as usual. The group visited Shiloh Museum, then ate at the Golden Corral. They missed the Grape Festival because of mixed dates. There is strength exercise each Monday after gospel singing and lunch. The Kitchen Band is again meeting every Tuesday morning. Plans are to enjoy Breakfast at Jimmy’s Egg, then shop at the Mall on Friday morning the 24th, and a volley ball tournament with Farmington that afternoon, (No bingo that day). The Jam Sessions are still going strong on Wednesday morning, and Drums Alive on Aug. 23, 28 and 31.

Debra Dunbar won the bicycle raffle drawing. Congratulations!

For more information and a good time (and food) visit the Center.

I checked on our California cousins and found they are OK. The fire nearest them has been put out. They do desperately need rain. The lake they get their water from is dangerously low.

I know we have had an unusually hot and dry spring and summer, some days even breaking records, but in our area of Arkansas we still have good pasture while in other parts it has been reported they already are feeding hay, and that hay this year is expensive to say the least.

The last week’s showers have been a welcome blessing.

Happy birthday to Carolyn McDonald, Eloise Parker, Jay Norton, Kirsten May, Nathan Prater, Candice Wooton, Reba Moore, Caitlyn Vanatta, Troy Bradley, Bob Bush, George Schooler, Brooklyn Roy, Aiden Barbosa, and Alexa Barbosa (twins).

Happy anniversary to Hollis and Verla Barker.

Happy years, all!
