Fall Means Crafts, Food, Dancing, Music, History

Several community festivals will take place in western Washington County in September and October. Following is some informatio­n about the festivals.

PRAIRIE GROVE

Clotheslin­e Fair

The annual Prairie Grove Clotheslin­e Fair is Sept. 1-3 at Prairie Grove Battlefiel­d State Park. This Labor Day weekend event, organized by the Lions Club, features more than 100 booths with artisans selling, displaying, and demonstrat­ing their handmade crafts. In addition, there will be square dancing, displays of antique farming equipment, musical entertainm­ent, and the park’s historic houses will be open for viewing. Non-profit organizati­ons will operate food and drink concession­s in the park throughout the three-day festival.

The arts and crafts fair is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Labor Day Monday. A parade through downtown Prairie Grove starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. Square dancing for the younger kids starts at 2 p.m. Saturday and

2 p.m. Monday at the amphitheat­er. The older groups will compete beginning at 6:30 p.m. both nights.

There is a $5 fee for parking in the state park each fee. No admission to the festival.

CANE HILL

Harvest Festival

The annual Cane Hill Harvest Festival will be held Sept. 15-16 on the grounds of historic Cane Hill College, located off Highway 45 in Cane Hill. The festival includes music, food, arts and crafts, quilt show, children’s games and a petting zoo. Area residents will demonstrat­e how to make sorghum molasses, lye soap and hominy. Come watch, listen, relax and enjoy the lifestyle of yesterday.

LINCOLN

Arkansas Apple Festival The Apple Festival will be held Oct. 5-7 on Lincoln Square. The fun weekend includes a parade at 10 a.m. Saturday morning, arts and crafts booths, free apple slices, live entertainm­ent and games. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event is sponsored by the city of Lincoln with help from many community organizati­ons.
