Cardinal Quarterbacks Compete
FARMINGTON — Rainfall Friday forced a rescheduling of Farmington’s annual Red and White game to kickoff football season with an inter-squad scrimmage, yet competition is shaping up at various positions.
Farmington senior Eric Hill (5-11, 170) is battling for the starting quarterback job against classmate Seth Swain (6-1, 188), who is also a contender for the starting quarterback position.
Swain was 2 of 4 and Hill 1 of 1 passing last year in backup roles.
Sophomore Tate Sutton (6-0, 175), son of former Farmington head junior high coach Tracy Sutton, will push the upperclassmen.
Farmington coach Mike Adams said both seniors have done a really good job.
“Tate Sutton is a sophomore. He led our junior high team the last couple of years so it’s a good situation for us right now. We’ve got three guys that are really capable of going out there and winning games for us on Friday nights,” Adams said. “The first two weeks all three of them are getting the same amount of reps. We’ll just kind of see, working the chart every day, completions, incompletions, interceptions, that sort of stuff, so we’ll have some days to look at it as we go through these two weeks. We’ll see who’s the best guy.”
Due to rainfall Friday, the annual Farmington Red and White game, also known as Kickoff, has been postponed until Thursday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. at Farmington’s Allen Holland Field.
