Another 100th Birthday Celebration

We were honored Monday to help yet another celebrate the 100 birthday mark. A good crowd met to celebrate with Lois Norvell on her big day, with gifts and a big beautiful decorated cake. Her favorite gift was teddy bear that dances and sings the birthday song. Lois is doing well, happy and enjoying life and the attention and care in Katherines Place at Fayetteville.

There is a beautiful patch work quilt, “Trip around the world,” on display in the Lincoln Center, to be raffled off during the Apple Festival. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.

The Center is collecting tin cans, also Best Choice bar codes, for other necessary fund raisers. Best choice has many items to collect from. Remember, Best Choice, Save!

How about those “spotty showers” in August! I watered the hydrangeas the last of July, and since then, I haven’t had to water more, with the rainfall. It is ironic, there was plenty of run off water, but it wasn’t needed to water the plants. Hopefully, September and later, will have plenty of rainfall to make the hay crop, which is really needed.

So, September is reunion planning month, children’s good manners, baby safety, teddy bear, youth pastors appreciation, Little League, college savings, eye health and safety, library card sign-up, savings, fall hat, self awareness, coupon, sewing, piano, Southern Gospel music, biscuit, mushroom, honey, chicken, potato, rice, and Be Kind to Editors and Writers month.

There is also V. J. Day, remembering when Japan signed their surrender on Sept 2, 1945; then Labor Day the 3rd, Patriots’ Day the 11th, POW-MIA recognition Day the 20th, and Gold Star Mothers’s Day the 29th.
