LIN­COLN — The Lady Wolves be­gan the 2018 vol­ley­ball sea­son 0-2 fol­low­ing a 3-0 loss at Mans­field Tues­day, Aug. 28 and 3-0 home loss to Prairie Grove in the sea­sonopener.

Mans­field beat Lin­coln 25-9, 25-7, and 25-15 leav­ing Lin­coln still look­ing for its first win. Lin­coln grad­u­ated sev­eral key play­ers from a 2017 team that fin­ished 7-7 in con­fer­ence play, the school’s first-ever .500 show­ing in league vol­ley­ball com­pe­ti­tion.

Lau­ren Mer­ritt-Creed coached that team, which com­peted as a 4A-1 school. This sea­son, Lin­coln has a new coach and com­petes as a mem­ber of the 3A-1 West.

Prairie Grove de­feated Lin­coln in three straight sets Aug. 27, win­ning 25-8, 25-16 and 25-10 for a sweep of the Lady Wolves. Se­nior Sophia Nun­zi­ato recorded 11 kills while sopho­mores Lexi Light (6) and Kennedy Con­rad (5) com­bined to equal that num­ber lead­ing the Lady Tiger at­tack.

Prairie Grove had 8 blocks led by ju­nior Jansen Wil­liams with 4.

Sopho­more Syd­ney Stear­man ac­counted for 11 of Prairie Grove’s 40 digs. Sopho­more Madi­son Hutchi­son dished out 11 of the Lady Tigers’ 27 as­sists.

Prairie Grove served 9 aces. Three play­ers had two apiece: ju­nior Sa­man­tha Blosser, Hutchi­son, and sopho­more Makin­sey Par­nell.

Booneville handed Lin­coln a non­con­fer­ence, 25-19, 25-9, 25-10 (0-3) loss Thurs­day.
