Visits From Grands & Great-Grands
School is in full swing, with reports of tests already. Our older students are working jobs part time and taking college courses in high school, to cut down on expenses later.
However, I enjoyed visits with some grandchildren and great-grandchildren the last part of August and into Sept. 1.
Karen and Brittany stopped for a visit one day. Janet and Megan and two little ones visited, while Janet gave me a pedicure! Brian came one afternoon with his lawn mower, but found I had already mowed, so we had a good long visit. Dean stopped by on his way home to Van Buren, like old times when he was going to college in Fort Smith and would stop by every week. Craig and Sheryl and three children spent Saturday morning with me and he insisted on going over the lawn with the mower. After a good visit, they went to Craig’s other grandma, Gerda, where they were having a family dinner, then they went home, in Rogers where Mason had a football game at 3 p.m.
Saturday afternoon, Misty and Kate came for a visit, bringing a bag of good old Arkansas Jonathan apples, ripe-on-the-tree delicious.
During the week, Johnny cleaned out the road ditch and fence row of the invasive Johnson grass. Anna brought more tomatoes. She picked some before they were ripe, and I have enjoyed Fried Green Tomatoes!
Lincoln Center members will leave at 8 a.m. on Sept. 14 to visit Judge Parkers’ Museum in Fort Smith, with lunch at Georges.
