Lincoln Intertwines Homecoming With Apple Festival
LINCOLN — A host of events associated with celebrating Homecoming are planned for Lincoln to be concluded with a game on Friday, Oct. 6, at Wolfpack Stadium.
Tamra Duncan, Business Technology educator, at Lincoln High School, invites the public to attend a community pep rally and Powder Puff football game. The event begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, at the football field with a community-wide pep rally open to the public.
“Be there to kick off our Homecoming celebrations as we honor Lincoln Alumni, introduce the 2018 Homecoming court, and celebrate pride in the Lincoln schools and community,” Duncan stated in an email.
In addition to the pep rally, there will be several other events taking place around the stands including a car show, a voter registration drive, and several other community partner events. The Powder Puff game will begin immediately following the pep rally and concessions will be available.
According to Duncan, entrance to the game will be a hygiene product or a monetary donation. Among Lincoln High School student groups participating are: Powder Puff players and coaches, cheer, band, Homecoming maids and their football escorts, junior and senior football players.
Homecoming is Friday, Oct. 5.
“This event will begin with the judging of the Homecoming floats and pep rally in the high school gym,” Duncans said.
She expects the pep rally to begin no later than 8:30 a.m. All district faculty, staff, students and partners are invited. Following the pep rally, high school students will be released to participate in the annual Homecoming tailgate. Tickets will be available the week of Sept. 24 at $5 per space.
The Homecoming ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Kickoff for the game will be at 7 p.m.
Duncan said there will not be a Homecoming Parade on Friday. Instead, class floats and the Homecoming court will participate in the Apple Festival Parade the morning of Saturday, Oct. 6.
The tailgate will conclude midday with time to be determined, and high school students will have an opportunity to travel to the Apple Festival.
“We want as many students as possible to go out and support this community event,” Duncan said.
