Fa­tal Ac­ci­dent Near Farm­ing­ton

FARM­ING­TON — A young man from the Prairie Grove area died as the re­sult of in­juries Wed­nes­day, Oct. 17 from a two-ve­hi­cle ac­ci­dent at U.S. High­way 62 and Bethel Black­top Road, ac­cord­ing to Desk Sgt. Michael Thomp­son with Farm­ing­ton Po­lice De­part­ment.

Thomp­son said of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing a re­con­struc­tion of the ac­ci­dent and not all de­tails were avail­able to be re­leased.

Brock Be­ment, 18, was a pas­sen­ger in a Chevro­let Aveo be­ing driven by a ju­ve­nile. The se­cond ve­hi­cle in the ac­ci­dent was a Sabaru Forester. Thomp­son said the ve­hi­cles were in­volved in what ap­peared to be a rearend ac­ci­dent. Both ve­hi­cles were west­bound on U.S. High­way 62 with the Subaru in front of the Chevro­let.

Be­ment was not wear­ing a seat­belt, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.

Be­ment was taken to Wash­ing­ton Re­gional Med­i­cal Ser­vice by Cen­tral EMS where he was pro­nounced dead at the hos­pi­tal, ac­cord­ing to Thomp­son.

The ac­ci­dent is still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
