GENTRY — Lincoln scored 32 straight points after Gentry took a 7-6 lead in the second quarter as the Wolves ran their season record to 7-2 going into week 10.

The victory over Gentry (2-7, 2-4 4A-1) postures Lincoln into Friday’s showdown with Prairie Grove for the third seed out of the 4A-1. Both teams come in with identical 4-2 conference records.

The Pioneers held the lead once, in the second quarter, in Friday night’s home game against the visiting Lincoln Wolves; but Lincoln quickly regained the lead and went on to win the game, 38-13.

Brandon Atwood, Gentry’s junior quarterback, gave Gentry (2-7, 2-5) the 7-6 lead with his 3-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter of the game. Garrett Hays scored on a 2-yard run with under a minute to play for the Pioneers’ final score.

Lincoln rolled off 32 unanswered points to defeat Gentry and set up next week’s third-place game with Prairie Grove.

The Pioneers amassed 135 rushing yards and 55 receiving yards in the loss. Peyton Wright was the favored receiver, catching the ball five times and picking up 27 yards in the game. Beau Tomlin picked off a Lincoln pass in the first half. Garrett Hays again led the Pioneers in total tackles with six solos and seven assists. Dylan Kilgore and Abran Still had seven solos each.

Caleb Loyd’s 1-yard quarterback keeper and Cam Brown’s 4-yard touchdown run allowed the Wolves (7-2, 4-2) to take an 18-7 halftime lead. Loyd then hit Sterling Morphis with a 25-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter. Christian Crittenden added a 2-yard touchdown run and Bradley Drain scored from 2 yards out.
