PRAIRIE GROVE — David Jones, 24, of Prairie Grove, was arrested Sunday in connection w i th two counts of felony fleeing, felony c r im in a l mischief first degree and two counts of reckless driving, both misdemeanors, according to a Prairie Grove police report.

The police report said that Jones, after two separate vehicle chases, finally was arrested after he fled on foot in an area off South Highway 265. A resident contacted police, saying a suspect was being held at gunpoint.

Police arrived and found the suspect to be Jones, the person police had been chasing by vehicle.

According to the report, a Prairie Grove police officer observed a black Ford Fusion traveling westbound at 112 mph in a 55-mph zone on U.S. Highway 62 on Sunday afternoon. The vehicle was half in the turn lane and half in the oncoming traffic lane.

The officer pursued the vehicle back around Prairie Grove and then the suspect headed eastbound toward Farmington. The pursuit continued into the city of Farmington and ended when officers lost sight of Jones’ vehicle in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Hill Street.

Around 8: 30 p. m. that evening, the police department received a call that the driver of a black Ford Fusion was having trouble controlling his vehicle. The caller said the vehicle was missing a tire and shooting sparks.

Prairie Grove police responded to the call and found it was the same vehicle involved in the pursuit earlier in the day. The officer initiated blue lights and the vehicle continued in a manner that was considered reckless at a speed of more than 80 mph, the report said.

The driver ran several red lights and ran other vehicles off the road. The chase continued onto South Highway 265 where the suspect abandoned his vehicle in a field and fled on foot.

According to the report,

Jones declined treatment from Central Emergency Medical Service at the scene and was taken to Washington County Detention Center.

The police report also notes that Jones’ vehicle damaged city, state and U.S. streets because it was driving on the vehicle’s rim. Estimated damage would be determined later, the report said.
