College Bound Athletes

FARMINGTON — Four Farmington athletes representi­ng three different sports signed letters of intent to continue their careers at the collegiate level Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Trinity Johnson

Trinity Johnson, shooting guard, daughter of Fa rm ing - ton head girls basketball coach Brad Johnson and his wife, Amber, signed with Southweste­rn Oklahoma State University, of Weatherfor­d, Okla. Trinity made 96 total 3- pointers during the 2019-2020 season helping Farmington win conference, district and Regional championsh­ips and advance to the Class 4A State finals. Farmington was named co- state champions along with Star City because of covid-19 concerns.

Carson Griggs

Carson Griggs, pitcher/ outfielder, signed with Colorado Christian University, at Lakewood, Colo., which competes at the NCAA Division II level. The Lady Cougars qualified for the NCAA Women’s Softball Regional in 2012 and 2018. Griggs is the daughter of Brad and Megan Griggs, of Farmington. Griggs homered during a 16-6 win ove r Bryant on March 3. She struck out four during a 2 0 2 0 season-opening, 8-1, win over Springdale Har-Ber on March 2. She plans to major in business.

Shayley Treat

Shayley Treat, shortstop/ pitcher, signed with LaBette Community College, of LaBette, Kan. Treat beat out a senior to win a starting position as a freshman and helped the 20 18 Lady Cardinal softball team reach the Class 5A State finals played at Benton. Treat again played a big role as Farmington advanced to the 2019 Class 4A State finals at Bogle Park on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Her first career home run resulted in a grand-slam powering Farmington to a come-from-behind win over Gravette in the 2019 District 4A-1 championsh­ip. She is the daughter of Wade and Jennifer Treat.

Trevor McCuin

Farmington baseball right-handed pitcher Trevor Mc Cu in signed with Eccles ia College, of Springdale. Trevor is the son of Tim and Shannon McCuin. He plans to major in business and then go on to the University of Arkansas and pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineerin­g.
