Lawrence Kelley Sharp
Lawrence Kelley Sharp, 78, passed away on March 30, 2021, at his home in Fayetteville. He was born on May 6, 1942, in Mayfield, Ark.
Lawrence was a farmer and worked for the University of Arkansas Physical Plant for 39 years, retiring in 2005. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball and would tell stories of playing baseball games in the small communities in Northwest Arkansas, like “Tick Stadium” located between Goshen and Mayfield.
He would say, you couldn’t play baseball because you were always picking ticks. He also enjoyed playing softball for several years with his two sons. He loved being home, working on the farm and enjoyed spending time with his eight grandkids and eight great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rosie Clark Sharp; sister, Lois Morris, and husband, Jack Morris.
He was survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Marie Whittenburg Sharp; sons Kelley and Lisa Sharp of Farmington and Calvin and Susan Sharp of Fayetteville; grandchildren Carson and Connor Sharp of Farmington, Cal Sharp of Johnson, Brandon and wife Emily Sharp of Springdale, Justin and wife Rachel Smith of Fayetteville, Collin Woodward of Fayetteville, Kimberly and husband Jeremy Byrd of Marble and Jeremy Thompson of Lowell; nieces Diana and husband Tony Bowerman of Fayetteville, Deloris and husband Tom McCoy of Fayetteville and Darlene Winn of Greenland; and great-nephews and great-nieces.
Visitation was held April 2, 2021, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale. Private burial followed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Circle of Life.
