Praire Grove Junk Weekend

- By Rachel Bevill-Cotrell

From Northwest Arkansas to Oklahoma and Missouri, antique enthusiasts and vintage junk fanatics will convene Thursday, October 5th and run through Saturday, October 7th, 2023 to shop to their heart’s content in historic Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

Prairie Grove is long since known in Northwest Arkansas as a small yet notable community with boutiques and antique shops that foster a unique shopping experience for those who wish to step outside of the chain store limelight and into the world of hidden gems. If you’re looking for that rare find to complete your assortment of invaluable collectibles, or simply searching for a festival that will strike whimsy into your day, Prairie Grove’s

Junk Weekend is the place to be.

Venues and Highlights Junk at the Mill

Mill about 50+ vendors hosted by Junk at the Mill during Prairie Grove’s Junk weekend. With local food trucks, hidden “keys,” pumpkins, and more, Junk at the Mill brings the fall season to life. Junk at the Mill is held in a remodeled flour mill known as the Washington County Milling Company, allowing the community to experience a historic building built in 1919 while browsing for antiques.

There will be many returning vendors, along with new ones. Items available will include handmade jewelry, metal artwork, wood crafts, handmade soaps and skincare products, custom design t-shirts, handcrafted toys and clothing. Food vendors will be on hand to satisfy your cravings.

Once again this year, there will be a hidden key contest. Each day, a skeleton key will be hidden in one of the booths, and the lucky person who finds it will win $100!

The Junk Ranch

This fun-filled, hidden treasure of a weekend marks the tenth year that The Junk Ranch has hosted hundreds of visitors, filling 250+ vendor booths with vintage, antique, and handmade goods.

Browse anything from seasonal plants to hand-spun wool. The Junk Ranch will have live music featuring Nashville artist Brittany Moore, food trucks, photo ops, fashion contests, and so much more for individuals and families to enjoy, participate, and assemble.

The Junk Ranch owners, Amy Daniels and Julie Speed, are excited about some new additions to this year’s festivities,

“This is our 10 year celebration, and we are excited for the upcoming show. There will be a “Night Under The Lights” event on Thursday, Oct. 5th from 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. This ticket is good for all three days, the first 100 shoppers receive a free t-shirt and Nashville Musician and Songwriter, Brittany Moore will be playing. We continue the fun on Friday and Saturday. There will be more live music, food trucks to eat from, new photo ops and amazing vendors from several states.”

To help you navigate the 2-day festival, here’s a list of tips designed to help you get the most out of your shopping experience:

1. Allow yourself plenty of time - There are booths to shop, food trucks & two days filled with live music. 2. Bring your truck - Whether you live locally or hours away, come prepared for large items.

3. When you see it, buy it - Those one-of-a-kind finds tend to get snapped up in a hurry.

4. Make a list of what you are hoping to find - In a field of fabulous junk, it’s so easy to lose focus. Make a list of what you’re looking for to help keep you on track.

5. Bring cash - Cash is always king, especially if you’re hoping to negotiate a better price.

6. Get to the t-shirts early - There are plenty of shirts, but we always sell out of different sizes at every show.

7. Dress appropriately - When in Arkansas, be ready for all types of weather.

8. Use the shuttle - Shuttles run all day during the show. 9. Take notes while shopping - Vendors have assigned booth numbers. Write those numbers down if you want to easily come back later to pick up your finds.

10. Have fun – Shop for collectables, listen to some bluegrass music and eat at one of the delicious food trucks. Times, Dates, and Locations
