SPRINGDALE — For the second consecutive game, Farmington didn’t allow any points in the fourth quarter while beating Shiloh Christian, 66-30, on the road Tuesday, Feb. 6.

The Lady Cardinals punished the Lady Saints on the offensive glass, scoring 13 points off second-chance opportunities in the first quarter alone. They accomplished this by committee. It wasn’t just the two six-footers, Zoey Bershers and Kaycee McCumber, although they combined for 29 points and 16 rebounds.

Senior point guard Reese Shirey buried a pair of 3-pointers and turned in an all-around game with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. J’Myra London scored 9 points, handed out 7 assists and pulled down 4 rebounds, while going 6 for 6 at the free-throw line. Marin Adams played the role of disruptor on defense with 7 steals. She also had 8 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists.

Farmington scored 10 of the first dozen points with Bershers, Adams and London scoring on the offensive glass. Adams turned a steal into an assist by driving to the basket, stopping and setting a screen while handing the ball off to Shirey for a layup.

Lauren McCredy’s 3-point shot started a 7-2 rally for the Lady Saints, bookended by another trey from Sydney Wyand.

Farmington answered by scoring 16 unanswered points, upping a 24-9 first quarter lead to a 17-point cushion with McCumber sticking a short jumper in the key on Morgan Uher’s assist.

The teams virtually traded points for the duration of the second quarter and the Lady Cardinals went into halftime leading 34-16.

The score ballooned in the third quarter. Bershers had a hoop and harm on a putback. London took a long outlet from Shirey and was fouled on an outlet, sinking both free throws. Adams stole the ball at midcourt and used a Euro step to score making it 42-16.

Madi Young nailed a trifecta, sandwiched around a pair of McCumber buckets on the low block late in the third period, and Farmington led 61-30 going into the fourth quarter, which activated the sportsmanship rule and a running clock.

Bershers finished with a team-high 15 points and 9 rebounds to go with 2 steals. McCumber added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and a blocked shot.

Wyand had 9 points for Shiloh Christian and McCredy added 8.
