Every Death Caused by an Illegal Immigrant is Easily Preventable

No amount of media misdirection can change the fact that every murder committed by an illegal immigrant would be preventable if Democrats, and President Joe Biden specifically, were serious about border security.

The suspect involved in the death of an adviser to Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) was an 18-year-old illegal immigrant. That illegal immigrant had been detained at the border in 2021 and was let go. Two weeks ago, he was part of a two-car crash that killed Kurt Englehart, who worked on Barack Obama’s 2012 presidential campaign before working for Cortez Masto. The suspect has been charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

Regardless of the circumstances of the accident, that illegal immigrant should not have been on the road to get in a two-car accident resulting in Englehart’s death. He is not the only one, either. The man suspected of killing Augusta University student Laken Riley was allowed to cross the border in 2022, arrested in New York in August 2023, and charged with acting in a manner to injure a child under 17. New York o cials released him before Immigration and Customs Enforcement could even request he be detained for deportation.

There are several other cases like this in states across the country. Liberal media outlets try to downplay this by claiming that illegal immigrants don’t commit more crimes than the general population, but that is cold comfort to the families of those who are killed. The reality is that, unlike with the general population, every murder perpetrated or death caused by an illegal immigrant is preventable, because they should not have been in the country in the first place.

Riley’s murder would not have happened if her suspected killer had been deported after his arrest in New York, let alone if he weren’t able to enter the country illegally. That is an incontrovertible fact. Englehart most likely would still be alive if the illegal immigrant arrested after his death were not on the road or in the country to be involved in a crash. And the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants crossing the border each month under Biden’s weak border enforcement, as congressional Democrats refuse to pass real border security bills, create the possibility for more entirely avoidable tragedies and crimes such as these.

This is all unnecessary and avoidable, and a Democratic Party that is content to sit on its hands during the border crisis, both through lack of enforcement and a lack of legislation, is only going to make this problem worse.
