THE HISTORY OF TRAINS AT MAGIC KINGDOM
The history of the Walt Disney World Railroad trains is vast. They operate completely on steam power and have circled the park since opening day on Oct. 1, 1971. But their story stretches much further back in time: The trains were originally built by Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia in the 1910s and 1920s.
My grandpa used to say that each of the four trains — the Walter E. Disney, the Roy O. Disney, the Lilly Belle, and the Roger E. Broggie — had its own personality, and depending on which train he was assigned to for his shift, he knew it was going to be an easy day or one that required more patience.
