March was the month of Pandora: World of AVATAR. Each week something new was released about this soon to open land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Be sure to check out the sneak peeks that Disney has offered to garnish excitement for this new world. Plus, there’s a little something new at the other parks too, including information on the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, a new nighttime show at Magic Kingdom, and a little Pixar music coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Spring has arrived ladies and gentleman and everything is coming up roses!
Feel like Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled as you take part in a special photo opportunity through Disney’s Photopass. You will get to hold a lantern and make it your best day ever in front of Rapunzel Tower in Fantasyland. You need to arrive around dusk for this magical opportunity. Originally scheduled to end on March 15th, this amazing experience has been extended for an undetermined amount of time. Make sure you don’t miss out!
The new nighttime fireworks spectacular “Happily Ever After” will debut at the Magic Kingdom on May 12. Hear part of the soundtrack here!
Enjoy the wonderful Outdoor Kitchens at the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival with the convenience of a Disney gift card wristlet. The limited-edition, orange-scented gift card can be reloaded and used beyond the festival, however, you must load it with at least $15 to start.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is adding a bonus show this summer! The Music of PIXAR Live! will be presented three times nightly at the Theater of the Stars starting May 26th. Guests will be able to experience the music from films such as Toy Story and Cars 3. There will also be special appearances by some of your favorite Pixar characters!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The Doc is in! Doc Mcstuffins is greeting guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. She has the perfect location too at Rafiki’s Planet Watch near the vet clinic. Sounds like a great addition for the little ones.
Pandora- World of AVATAR opens on May 27th at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Several sneak peeks into this imaginative, alien world have been released where you get the chance to see what makes Pandora come to life. They have even included a connection of this new land to the original intent of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Look and see which inspires you to visit!
Fastpass+ reservations have opened for Avatar Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. You will have to choose between the two attractions when making your Fastpass+ reservations. As a bonus, if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel between May 27th and July 4th, you will be able to enjoy extra magic hours from 11pm until 1am to experience Pandora.
A new restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will have a brand-new dining feature! The menu for the soon-to-open Satu’li Canteen was recently revealed. The restaurant will have customizable entrees that begin with a quinoa or vegetable salad base topped with either chicken, beef, fish, or tofu. The most captivating part of this new eatery is the Mobile Order option. Guests will be able to pay for their meals through the My Disney Experience app, eliminating the need to stand in a queue when arriving at the restaurant. Are you adventurous enough to try cuisine from “another world?”
One of the best parts of a Walt Disney World vacation is the memories you take home from your trip. Disney Photopass is making memories even more magical with their new personalized storybook that can be created at Disney Springs. Through a special photo session, your child can be inserted into parts of their favorite fairytale! This is a pretty cool upgrade, but as you probably expected, it’s going to cost you $149.95, plus shipping.
After running over 8000 performances for the past 19 years, La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil will take its final bow in December this year. There’s no word yet on what will replace this amazing show in Disney Springs. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you add in time during your next trip. The acrobatics and artistry is truly a sight to behold.
Miss Adventure Falls opened on March 12th at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. This new family-style raft attraction is one of the longest rides at a Disney water park!
The newest member of the Disney Vacation Club will be accepting sales soon! Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge includes deluxe waterfront cabins with two bedrooms and an amazing view. Also available are Deluxe Studios, 1 & 2 bedroom Villas, and three bedroom Grand Villas. Current DVC members can already purchase and the general public can begin purchasing on April 5th. Copper Creek is scheduled to open on July 17th.
If you like pins and pin trading, you’ll want to look at the many pins coming in 2017. There are limited edition sets, a Jungle Cruise 45th anniversary collection, and even Disney Emoji pins. There are almost too many new pins to collect them all!
The best view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks can be seen from the Disney’s
Contemporary Resort. Now with some pixie dust, you can experience the best view in the World from the top. One hour before fireworks, you will check in to the California Grill to experience a variety of delectable dishes such as canapes, sushi, and flatbreads. Then, guests will enjoy the wonderful fireworks from the observation deck. Afterwards, desserts will be served. Celebration at the Top is on select Sundays for a limited time and is $99 per person (plus tax and gratuity). This would be a perfect location to celebrate a special evening.
