Dad’s 3 Common Sense Tips
If you are a first time visitor to Walt Disney World, there are a few things you might want to know before you get there.
Dad’s Common Sense Tip #1 – Patience is a Virtue
Memorial Day Weekend at Walt Disney World plus the opening of Pandora – The World of AVATAR. Oh, my what a mess. People were waiting seven hours to ride the rides in Pandora!
A week later those lines had settled down to just a measly 120 minutes for Avatar Flight of Passage, and 90 minutes for Na’vi River Journey. As the summer progresses and the newness wears off, those numbers will go down even more. Yes, we all want to see something new, but just a little patience can make a big difference in how long you’ll have to stand in line.
Dad’s Common Sense Tip #2 – Rumors vs. Facts
One of the things that I hate is rumors about WDW. Rumors about changes at Walt Disney World are everywhere. Just last year, Guardians of the Galaxy was going to replace Mission Space, Tower of Terror, The Universe of Energy, Stitch’s Great Escape, and Journey to Imagination.
None of that happened, but a lot of people think they have. Just this week, my buddy (who tries to keep up with Walt Disney World) asked me about the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy - Tower of Terror at WDW. It never happened (Disneyland yes, WDW no). But that was the rumor.
So when it comes time to plan your trip to WDW, be sure it’s “just the facts ma’am, just the facts.”
Dad’s Common Sense Tip #3 – Change is Good
On May 11, 2017, Wishes, the nighttime fireworks show at Magic Kingdom was performed for the last time. On May 12th, a new show called Happily Ever After took its place. That was a big change.
Things change at Walt Disney World all the time and change is good. OK, not all changes are good, but change and progress is a good thing.
A few years ago, ‘Ohana changed their dessert from fresh pineapple to bread pudding. I was just sure I was going to hate it. In fact, the first time we went to ‘Ohana (our favorite restaurant) after the change, we asked for the pineapple instead of the bread pudding. The waiter brought both. And to our surprise, we liked it even better and actually went for seconds! Change is good.
