As the major cultural event on the Central Coast, the San Luis Obispo Cattlemen’s Association presents the 28th annual Cattlemen’s Western Art Show. The event begins with an artist reception Friday, April 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. Tickets for the evening, which includes Cattlemen’s hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting and a no-host bar, are available at the door for $20. The show continues Saturday, April 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A Cattlemen’s BBQ lunch is available both days from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for $10 per plate.
Being one of the only shows left on the Central Coast, this is a unique opportunity to meet artists and become a part of the world of art. The ability to talk to each artist and step into their world, learn the stories behind each piece and why they create what they do. Their passion is contagious and will leave guests wishing to become collectors. For the serious collector or the beginner there is something for everyone. Western themes and landscapes in acrylics, oil, pencil, pastels, scratchboard and sculptures. More than 400 new works will be on display and available for purchase. In addition to original artwork, reproductions will also be available in another area of the show.
The featured artist, Susan von Borstel, will share her enthusiasm and talent along with her creations on stone. The show looks forward to welcoming Borstel’s many collectors and guests who will be mesmerized by her work.
Spending a few moments with the artists will add a new dimension to visitor’s ideas about the artwork, artist and show, and hopefully send them down a road to collecting fine Western artwork in a variety of mediums. Guests will also notice the high energy of the show and will certainly come away with new long-lasting friendships or partnerships formed between the artist and collector.
