March 16, during the Art Walk Evening in Crested Butte, the gallery will have an opening for Marin Dobson’s show The Power of the Palette Knife. In June, the gallery celebrated 25 years, which was founded as Empire
Tunnel Graphics by Susan H. Anderton in the basement of the Company Store, then Anderton Gallery upstairs in the Company Store. The gallery moved to its current location in 1985 and was purchased from Susan Anderton in 1993.
The art scene in Crested Butte has grown tremendously with the state’s designation of the town having a Creative District and the expansion underway of the Crested Butte Center for the Arts. The beauty of the area attracts artists of all types, including artists, dancers, and music and theater performers.
