“Each show has a story behind it, and these shows represent some of our all-time favorite stories in the art world. It’s no wonder the Jackson Hole art market is setting records right now.” –Mark Wilcox, creative director at Wilcox Gallery

Wilcox Gallery has thrilled art collectors in Jackson Hole for nearly 50 years with its representational and impressionistic Western art. Founded in 1969 by Jim Wilcox, an artist who has won most of the major Western art awards throughout his career, the gallery now represents more than 40 painters and sculptors. In July, Wilcox Gallery will be hosting two unique and exciting shows for several of its talented artists, including 18-year-old prodigy Kyle Ma, whose work has already been compared to Richard Schmid. The first show, titled Prodigious Prodigy, will exhibit dozens of new works, which will not be pre-sold or pre-exhibited. Attendees on July 13 and 14 will get first choice of the new work by this promising young master before it goes on sale to the general public. The show will also include a collectors’ barbecue, an opening reception, a painting demonstration and an auction of the demonstration piece. On July 27, the gallery will host another opening reception with a show titled Paintbrush Cowboys: A 3-man show for master painters who live their subject matter. This show focuses on oil painters Charles Dayton, Grant Redden and watercolorist Don Weller. Each of these “paintbrush cowboys” are well acquainted with their subject matter, and it shows.
